Ruth has recently been exploring identity within her practice. Encompassing installation, drawing, and painting, her work can be viewed as conveying “experience by experience,” offering subjective descriptions as opposed to determinative representations (Merleau- Ponty 1964, p. 155). Her practice acknowledges various expressions of her being as modular and non-binary, reconfiguring them within a self-contained order. Emphasising the structural authority of language and social units, recent areas of focus include childhood as formative and trauma as impacting.
